Wingate’s Bryan Grier Breaks NCAA Blocks Record
Harrogate, Tenn.----Wingate University senior center Bryan Grier (Charlotte, N.C.) put his name in the history books Saturday night, as he established the NCAA Division II career record for blocked shots in the Bulldogs' 99-70 South Atlantic Conference victory over Lincoln Memorial University Saturday night at Tex Turner Arena.
The all-time leading shot blocker in school and conference history, Grier rejected three shots Saturday night to give the Vance High School graduate 419 career blocked shots. The previous record was held by James Doyle of Concord (W.Va.) University. Doyle blocked 416 shots for the Mountain Lions from 1995 to 1998.
Grier had 15 points and six rebounds to go with his four blocked
shots.
