Catawba’s Norman Monroe Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Norman Monroe has been named South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Player Of The Week, league officials announced today.
Monroe, a senior center from Newport News, Va., averaged 23.0 points and 11.5 rebounds in leading Catawba to a pair of league wins over Newberry (107-103 in double overtime) on the road Wednesday and Mars Hill (80-78) at home on Saturday.
Monroe carried Catawba to the win over Newberry as he finished
with 35 points and 16 rebounds and hit 14-of-17 shots from the
field before posting 11 points and seven rebounds against Mars
Hill.
Monroe averages 11.5 points a game including 14.2 points per contest against league foes to go along with 5.3 rebounds per game.
The SAC Men's Basketball Player Of The Week is voted on by the league's sports information directors.
