Mars Hill’s Danny Sanders Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. ­- Mars Hill College's Danny Sanders has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 24, 2010.

Sanders, a senior guard from Shelby, N.C. (Shelby HS), led Mars Hill to a pair of conference wins last week that propelled the Lions into a tie for first place in the SAC standings.

He scored 26 points in a 89-73 win over Wingate and 29 points in the 96-92 overtime win over Lincoln Memorial University, which at the time was in first place in the league.

Sanders hit 53.7 percent from the floor and 40 percent from behind the arc. He added 5.5 rebounds, two assists and four steals per game. Sanders leads the SAC in scoring and steals.
