Lenoir-Rhyne’s Blackmon, Tusculum’s Moore Named Men’s Basketball Players Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Lenoir-Rhyne University's D.J. Blackmon and Tusculum College's Kyle Moore have been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Players of the Week for the week ending February 14, 2010.
Blackmon, a junior forward/center from Albemarle, N.C. (Pfeiffer University) averaged 28.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in leading Lenoir-Rhyne to a 2-0 week with a pair of SAC wins over Carson-Newman and Lincoln Memorial. Blackmon tallied 23 points, nine rebounds and six assists and scored his 1,000th career point in the win over the Eagles at home Wednesday. Blackmon capped the week with a career-high 34 points in L-R's upset victory over Lincoln Memorial on the road Saturday. Blackmon currently leads the team in scoring (20.6 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg) and assists (2.5 apg) this year.
Moore, a senior guard from Gainesville, Fla. (Winthrop University), averaged 36.5 points per game to lead the Pioneers to a pair of South Atlantic Conference wins last week.

Moore poured in 35 points in Tusculum's win over Wingate. He went 9-of-19 from the floor, including 6-of-9 from three-point territory in a 19-point win over the Bulldogs. The 2009 SAC Player of the Year shot 11-of-12 from the free throw line. His lone miss at the free throw line ended a string of 33 consecutive made free throws. He followed with a 39-point effort at Carson-Newman as the Pioneers posted its largest win (26 points) over their in-state rivals in school history. Moore shot 12-of-18 from the field with three 3-pointers and a perfect 12-of-12 from the foul line. In the second half, he tallied 28 points, going 10-of-11 from the floor. On the week, Moore shot 56.8 percent from the field (21-of-37), including 9-of-16 from three-point territory. He also made 23-of-24 from the free throw line for 95.8 percent. Moore also becomes the first player in modern school history to score 30 points in three straight games. He has scored 30 or more points on nine occasions this year and 14 times in his TC career.
