Catawba’s Keon Moore Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Keon Moore has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending January 30, 2011.
Moore, a freshman guard from Colerain, N.C. (Bertie HS), set career scoring highs in both wins for Catawba during the week. He tallied 24 points in the win over Mars Hill then followed with a 28-point performance at Carson-Newman to help the Indians win consecutive games for just the second time this season.
Moore helped Catawba to quick starts in both games, scoring 16 in the first half against Mars Hill and 21 in the opening frame at Carson-Newman.
For the week, Moore hit on 48 percent of his shots and went 8-of-17 behind the arc. He connected on 14-of-16 free throws. Moore also averaged 6.5 rebounds, while recording a steal and two blocks.
On the year, the freshman is averaging 16.3 points a game and
18.5 in league outings.
