Catawba’s Dominick Reid Named Men’s Basketball Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Catawba College's Dominick Reid has been named the South Atlantic Conference men's basketball Player of the Week for the week ending February 27, 2011.
Reid, a senior guard from Charlotte, N.C. (Cannon School), led Catawba to a pair of league wins last week to secure the Indians' spot in the SAC Tournament. At Mars Hill in a must-win game, Reid scored a career-high 32 points and dished out nine assists. Playing the entire 40 minutes, the point guard did not commit a turnover. He scored 22 of his career-high outing in the second half.
Reid canned another six three-pointers in the win over Newberry,
finishing with 25 points. Reid snapped an 82-all tie with a pair of
free throws then hit a clutch three-pointer to push the lead to
87-82 with a minute to go. For the week, Reid averaged 28.5 points,
6.0 assists and 5.5 rebounds.
