LMU’s Johnson, Curry, Brevard’s Roper Named To Daktronics Men’s Basketball All-Region Team
STEPHENVILLE, Texas -- Lincoln Memorial University men's basketball forwards Desmond Johnson (Lynch, KY) and D'Mario Curry (Detroit, MI) have been named to the 2011 Daktronics Men's All-Southeast Region First and Second Teams, announced Wednesday. Brevard College guard Josh Roper (Charlotte, NC) was named to the All-Southeast Region Second Team.
Johnson, a 6-6 junior and three-year starter with the Railsplitters, earned Daktronics All-Southeast Region First Team honors less than a week after being named 2011 South Atlantic Conference First Team, 2011 SAC Regular Season Most Valuable Player and to the 2011 SAC Men's Basketball All-Tournament Team. In his third season with the Railsplitters, Johnson ranks second on the team in scoring with 15.0 points per game and first in rebounding with 8.5 boards per night. Twice this season he was named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts.

Curry, a 6-7 senior forward and three-year starter with the Railsplitters earned Daktronics All-Southeast Region Second Team honors less than a week after being named 2011 South Atlantic Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, 2011 First Team All-South Atlantic Conference and was also named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week twice this season. Throughout 29 games this year, Curry leads the Railsplitters in scoring with 17.6 points per game and ranks second on the squad in rebounding with 8.4 boards per contest. Curry is a three-time First Team All-South Atlantic Conference selection including this year's honors.
Roper, a 6-0 senior guard who was named to the South Atlantic Conference First Team led the SAC in scoring averaging 21.2 points per game along with leading the conference in steals per game at 2.56. Roper, was named South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week twice this season and holds numerous Brevard records. He is in the top ten in multiple single game, single season and career records in various categories including: points, points per game, field goals, field goal attempts, field goal percentage, free throws, free throw attempts, free throw percentage, three-pointers made, three-pointers attempted, assists and steals.
