Mars Hill’s Emile, Tusculum’s Hicks Earn SAC Player of the Week Honors
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Mars Hill forward Sammy Emile and Tusculum forward Staci Hicks have been named the SAC Basketball Players of the Week following strong performances as conference play got underway.
Emile, a senior from Lake Worth, Fla., had back-to-back 21-point performances in Mars Hill's win over Lenoir-Rhyne and loss to Anderson.
Emile had an excellent all-around game against the Bears, making three three-point shots while recording five rebounds, five assists and two steals.
On the week, Emile shot 14-of-17 from the foul line as well.
Hicks helped Tusculum remain unbeaten on the young season by averaging 16.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in wins over 19th-ranked Shaw and Brevard. The Loveland, Ohio native had double-doubles in both games.
Against Shaw, Hicks shot an efficient six-of-10 from the field en route to finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds. She followed that up with an 18-point, 12-rebound effort against Brevard.
Hicks shot. 57.1-percent on the week, and leads Tusculum so far this season with an average of 14.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game.
