Tusculum’s Jumper and LMU’s Bailey Share SAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Honors, Anderson’s Diaz Earns Women’s Award
Tusculum forward Keith Jumper and Lincoln Memorial forward Vincent Baily have been named the SAC Co-Men’s Basketball Players of the Week, while Anderson guard Alissa Diaz was picked as the women’s Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Tusculum forward Keith Jumper and Lincoln Memorial forward Vincent Baily have been named the SAC Co-Men's Basketball Players of the Week, while Anderson guard Alissa Diaz was picked as the women's Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Jumper averaged 22 points and nine rebounds while shooting 66.7-percent from the field in Tusculum's two games. The freshman finished with 22 points and five rebounds on Wednesday in a 66-56 loss to Anderson, then went for 22 points and 13 boards on Saturday in an 86-84 win over Mars Hill.
Saturday's performance marked Jumper's second double-double of the season. He currently ranks 12th in the conference in scoring at 13.5 points per game.
Bailey, meanwhile, led LMU to a pair of victories over Brevard and Lenoir-Rhyne by averaging a double-double of 16.5 points and 11 rebounds per game. He was also highly-efficient from the field, shooting 68.2 percent on the week.
Bailey opened his week by scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds on Wednesday in a 75-51 win over Brevard. He then finished with 15 points and 12 boards on Saturday in an 82-72 victory at Lenoir-Rhyne.
The junior is third in the SAC in rebounding at 9.0 per game and tied for 14th in scoring at 13.0
Diaz helped the Anderson women improve to 5-1 in conference play by averaging 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in the Trojans' wins over Tusculum and Carson-Newman.
She scored 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting in a 71-53 win at Tusculum on Wednesday, then went for 17 points on Saturday in a 60-46 victory over Carson-Newman. For the week, the senior shot 65.2-percent from the field and 88.9-percent from the foul line.
Diaz's scoring average of 16.7 points per game currently ranks second in the SAC.
