SAC Lands Four in Initial NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional Rankings
Four SAC teams have been ranked in the season’s first NCAA Division II men’s basketball southeast region rankings, led by No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, it was announced by the association on Wednesday.
INDIANAPOLIS – Four SAC teams have been ranked in the season's first NCAA Division II men's basketball southeast region rankings, led by No. 2 Lincoln Memorial, it was announced by the association on Wednesday.
The regional rankings are the official poll utilized by the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Committee during the NCAA Championship selection process. Rankings will be released each week prior to the bracket's announcement.
LMU earned the No. 2 ranking in the poll with an overall record of 20-2 and a SAC mark of 16-2. The Railsplitters – ranked 14th in the nation in this week's NABC poll – lead Division II in rebounding margin and rank seventh in scoring margin.
Anderson is No. 5 in the regional rankings. The Trojans are 18-6 overall and tied for second in the SAC standings at 13-5.
AU is followed in the regional poll by No. 9 Carson-Newman and No. 10 Newberry. Carson-Newman is tied for second in the SAC at 16-6 overall and 13-5 in league games, while Newberry is 15-7 overall and tied for fourth in the conference at 11-7.
