The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for the 2016 SAC Men's Basketball Championship (VIDEO)
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lincoln Memorial won its fourth-straight South Atlantic Conference Regular-Season Championship as it captured the 2015-16 title. With the crown, the Railsplitters have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. Lincoln Memorial finished the season with a 22-0 League record and is the first team in SAC history to finish its season undefeated.
Queens earned the No. 2 seed as it finished the SAC regular season at 17-5. Wingate came in at the No. 3 seed with its 16-6 record in SAC play. Lenoir-Rhyne took the No. 4 slot as it finished 14-8 in Conference action. Newberry and Carson-Newman turned in identical 12-10 records in the League. Newberry broke the tie to earn the No. 5 with its win over Wingate during the season. At No. 7 in the seeding was Catawba at 10-12 and Tusculum wraps up the top eight with its 9-13 record in the SAC.
The 2016 South Atlantic Conference Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday, March 2 before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 5 and 6. The South Atlantic Conference's Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. The Conference Championship schedule is as follows:
