The South Atlantic Conference Announces Seeds for 2020 Men's Basketball Championship
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Nationally ranked No. 2 Lincoln Memorial won the 2019-20 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Title as it finished the season with a 22-0 record in conference play. With the title, the Railsplitters have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's SAC Pilot Flying J Men's Basketball Championship, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. Lincoln Memorial heads into the playoffs with a 28-game winning streak, the longest active winning streak in NCAA Division II.
Queens finished in second with a 17-5 record in conference, earning the No. 2 seed in SAC Pilot Flying J Championship. Catawba earned the No. 3 seed with a 14-8 record, while Tusculum will be the No. 4 seed with a 13-9 record. Earning the No. 5 seed is Anderson, who finished the season with a 12-10 mark.
Newberry landed at No. 6 in the bracket, as it went 10-12 on the SAC season, with Lenoir-Rhyne earning the No. 7 seed with a 10-12 SAC record, and Mars Hill earning the No. 8 seed also with a 10-12 conference record. The Wolves won the tiebreaker over Lenoir-Rhyne and Mars Hill by virtue of its 3-1 record versus the other two teams. The Bears won the tiebreaker over the Lions based on their 2-0 record versus Mars Hill.
The 2020 SAC Pilot Flying J Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday (March 4), before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 7 and 8. The SAC Pilot Flying J Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. The SAC Pilot Flying J Men's Basketball Championship schedule is as follows:
