Carson-Newman's Davis Named South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Carson-Newman guard Tripp Davis has been named the South Atlantic Conference AstroTurf Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played during week 13 of the 2020-21 season, the Conference announced today.
Davis, a senior from Nashville, Tenn., led the Eagles to a 3-0 record last week, including a pair of SAC victories. He started the week by scoring 44 points with six rebounds, two assists, and four steals versus Benedict in a non-conference game. He then added nine points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals in limited action against Mars Hill. Davis then closed out the week with a 22 point, six rebound, three assist, and seven steal performance in the Eagles' second meeting with Mars Hill. His 44 points are the third highest point total in a single game in Carson-Newman history and he tied the program's single game record for steals with seven. For the week he averaged 25 points with 4.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 4.3 steals, while shooting 67.6 percent from the field and 57.1 percent from long range.
This is Davis' first player of the week selection this season.
