EVANSVILLE, IND. - The Lincoln Memorial Railsplitter's season came to a tough close on Thursday (March 25) evening with an 87-86 loss to West Texas A&M in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship. The loss drops the Railsplitters to 19-4 on the year.
It was a hard-fought game from start to finish, with LMU holding the slight advantage of West Texas A&M for the entire game, leading by double digits as one point. The Buffs would not give up and in the final seconds of the game they missed a shot to tie the game, but gathered the offensive board and knocked down a game-winning three-pointer as time expired.
Five Railsplitters scored in double figures with Jordan Guest leading the way with a double-double of 20 points and 10 boards. He added two blocks and five assists to his stat line. Also scoring in double figures were Julius Brown with 16 points, Alex Dahling with 14 points, Devin Whitfield with 12 points, and Xavier Bledson with 11 points.
With the win, West Texas A&M advances to the NCAA Division II National Championship game.
