Lincoln Memorial and Queens Claim Share of Regular Season Title, Seeds for 2022 SAC Men's Basketball Championship Announced
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Nationally ranked No. 7 Lincoln Memorial earned a share of the 2021-22 South Atlantic Conference Regular Season Title along with nationally ranked No. 9 Queens, as both teams finished the season with 21-3 records in conference play. The Railsplitters have earned the No. 1 seed in next week's SAC Men's Basketball Championship and the Royals will be the No. 2 seed, it was determined today as the Conference season concluded this afternoon. LMU wins the tiebreaker over Queens by virtue of a 2-0 record against Tusculum, while the Royals are 1-1 against the Pioneers.
Tusculum earned the No. 3 seed with a 19-5 record, while Wingate will be the No. 4 seed with a 17-7 record. Earning the No. 5 seed is Carson-Newman, who finished the season with a 15-9 mark.
Newberry landed at No. 6 in the bracket, as it went 14-10 on the SAC season, with Catawba earning the No. 7 seed with a 10-14 SAC record, and Lenoir-Rhyne earning the No. 8 seed with a 9-15 conference record.
The 2022 SAC Men's Basketball Championship quarterfinals will be played at campus sites on Wednesday (March 2), before moving to Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. for the semifinals and finals on March 5 and 6. The SAC Tournament champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. The SAC Men's Basketball Championship schedule is as follows:
