Six SAC Men’s Basketball Programs Listed in First NCAA Southeast Region Rankings
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) — In the first edition of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region rankings, the South Atlantic Conference has six men's basketball programs under consideration for the NCAA Tournament.
The rankings, which are listed alphabetically for the first week and then numerically in subsequent announcements, include Anderson, Carson-Newman, Catawba, Lenoir-Rhyne, Lincoln Memorial and UVA Wise among the 10 teams recognized in the region.
The selection committee uses these rankings as a guideline to determine the NCAA Tournament field. The top eight teams in the region earn NCAA Tournament berths, with automatic bids going to the conference tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Conference Carolinas and Peach Belt Conference. The remaining five spots are awarded as at-large selections.

The six SAC programs continue to demonstrate the depth and strength of the league as postseason play approaches. With four games remaining in the regular season, positioning in the regional rankings remains fluid heading into conference tournament play.
