Carson-Newman in Top 10 after Opening Round of NCAA Men’s Golf Regional

CONOVER, N.C. - Paced by a round of two-under par from Gavin Hay, Carson-Newman is tied for ninth following the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Men's Golf South/Southeast Region Championship at Rock Barn in Conover, N.C.
Hay's round of 70 tied for the day's third-best individual performance and helped Carson-Newman finish Monday with a team score of 296 - 10 shots behind leader Florida Tech.
The Eagles also got a solid round from Jonathan Kim-Moss, who finished the day at even par.
Also competing at the regional was SAC Champion Wingate. The Bulldogs are in 17th-place after day one, but trail Florida Tech by just 13 strokes in a highly-competitive field.
WU was paced on Monday by Antoine LeSaux's round of one-over 73.
