POOLER, Ga. – Queens stands in 18th and Carson-Newman in 20th after the opening 18 holes of the 2014 NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship south/southeast regional.
Queens finished Monday with a team score 310. The Royals were led by Freddie Nordhoff's round of one-over 73, and a round of 78 from Jake McLaren.
Carson-Newman, meanwhile, posted a team score of 335 on the opening day. Jonathan Kim-Moss paced the SAC-champion Eagles with a round of 80, and Corey Bray carded an 81.
Wingate's Benedict Gebhardt, competing as an individual, shot a four-over 76 on Monday, and is tied for 63rd on the individual leaderboard.
Round two gets underway at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
