Wingate junior Cory Schumacher and freshman Jacob Ormerod have been named the SAC Men’s Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, following a week that was limited to three games due to winter weather.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate junior Cory Schumacher and freshman Jacob Ormerod have been named the SAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, following a week that was limited to three games due to winter weather.
SAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week | Cory Schumacher, Wingate
Schumacher totaled six points in Wingate's 12-6 season-opening victory over Young Harris, recording three goals and three assists. The attacker finished with eight shots, and added three ground balls.
As a team, Wingate outshot Young Harris 48-31 and had a 46-26 advantage in ground balls.
SAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week | Jacob Ormerod, Wingate
Ormerod earn a victory in his college debut on Sunday, recording 14 saves in Wingate's victory over Young Harris. He stopped 70-percent of YHC shots on goal during the game, and also picked up four ground balls.
Ormerod's save percentage of 70.0 currently ranks second in the SAC.
