The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, Feb. 9

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Ned Kaish was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Tusculum's Kevin Haggerty was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played the opening week of the season, the League announced today.

Kaish, a senior attacker from Atlanta, Ga., scored five goals and posted three assists in Lenoir-Rhyne's narrow 17-16 loss to No. 1 Limestone on Feb. 7.  He scored three third quarter goals and added a pair of fourth quarter scores.  Kaish put seven shots on target and added five ground balls and one caused turnover.  The award marks his first Player of the Week selection this season.

Haggerty, a goalkeeper from Suffern, N.Y., recorded 22 saves of the 75 shots he faced in Tusculum's two-game Florida road swing to open the 2015 season.  In Tusculum's 13-11 road loss at Florida Tech, Haggerty accounted for 14 saves against the Panthers.  TC fell behind 9-0, before making a valiant comeback with a 7-0 run and trailed by one goal on several occasions down the stretch.  After being down 9-0, Haggerty limited FIT to four goals in the second half.  Against No. 4 Tampa, Haggerty posted eight saves against the defending NCAA II national semifinalist and posted a shutout of the Spartans in the fourth quarter.  On the weekend, Haggerty posted a 13.50 GAA during TC's Florida trip.  The award marks his first Defensive Player of the Week selection this season.
