The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, Mar. 16
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Tanner Kotch was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while Tim Ryan from Coker was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Mar. 9-15, the League announced today.
Kotch, a sophomore from Butler, Pa., scored nine goals and dished out six assists to lead the Bulldogs to a pair of road wins last week. The attacker got his week started with three goals, three assists and two ground balls as the Bulldogs downed Young Harris, 17-8, on March 12. Two days later against Shorter, Kotch put in six scores, to go along with three helpers and a ground ball in an 18-10 win. He fired 11 total shots on the week to find the back of the net on 82 percent of his shots. The award is his first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
Ryan, a senior from Glocester, R.I., posted 28 saves in Coker's two wins last week. At Lynn on March 10, he notched 16 saves, a 61.5 save percentage and scooped up 11 ground balls the Cobras' 11-10 overtime win. He followed that effort with 12 saves and a save percentage of 52 percent in a 12-11 come from behind win over League foe Lenoir-Rhyne on March 13. The award is his first Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Also nominated for Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week: Zach Lafavre (Catawba), Josh Smith (Coker), Jay Goldsmith (Lenoir-Rhyne), Ryan Sage (Mars Hill) and Casey Hock (Queens).
Also nominated for Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week: Adam Wiedemann (Brevard), Ryan Kearney (Mars Hill), Jonathan Page (Queens) and James Thatcher (Wingate).
