The South Atlantic Conference Announces Astroturf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, April 7
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Brevard's Adam Wiedemann was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Andy Reilly was named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for games played Mar. 30-April 5, the League announced today.
Wiedemann, a freshman from Brampton, Ontairo, scored five goals and handed out eight assists as Brevard posted a 2-0 record last week. He got his week started with a career-best 12 points as he put in five goals, to go along with seven assists in a 19-6 win over Lees-McRae on March 31. He followed that effort with an assist in a 5-4 overtime win over Lincoln Memorial on April 4. For the week, Wiedemann posted 11 shots and 10 shots on goal to finish with a 91 percent shot on goal clip. The award is his second Offensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Reilly, a senior from Delmar, N.Y, notched 20 saves to help his team compile a 2-0 record and clinch a spot in the South Atlantic Conference tournament with one game to go in the regular season. He he faced 51 shots while only allowing eight goals to finish the two-game span with a 4.74 goals against average. He played 39:46 minutes and had six saves while allowing only four goals vs. Lees-McRae. Against Lincoln Memorial, Reilly had 14 saves in a 5-4 overtime victory, including key stops in the closing minutes of regulation to force overtime. The honor is his third Defensive Player of the Week selection this season.
