The South Atlantic Conference Announces AstroTurf SAC Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week, April 11
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne's Mike Hanlon was tabbed the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Ryan Crompton and Ryan Kearney from Mars Hill were named the Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Co-Defensive Players of the Week for games played April 4-10, the League announced today.
Hanlon, a junior from Haymarket, Va., put in the game-winning goal in double overtime to lead the Bears to a 12-11 win at Queens on April 9. The attacker finished the contest with four goals and dished out three assists in the win as the Bears pushed their record to 6-0 in South Atlantic Conference. He connected on 50 percent of his shots against the Royals and added one ground ball in the victory. The award is his first Offensive Player of the Week selection this season.
Crompton, a sophomore from Frederick, Md., totaled 18 saves in helping the Bears to a 12-11 double overtime victory at Queens last Saturday. He saved 62 percent of the shots he faced in 65:44 minutes in goal. The award marks his second Defensive Player of the Week nod this season.
Kearney, a sophomore from Tallahassee, Fla., recorded 28 saves to lead the Lions to a pair of pivotal South Atlantic Conference wins last week. He got his week started with 10 saves as Mars Hill defeated Brevard 8-6 on April 6. Three days later at Lincoln Memorial, Kearney came away with 18 saves in a 7-6 win over the Railsplitters. Kearney saved 70 percent of the shots in faced in the two-game span. The honor is his first Defensive Player of the Week plaudit this season.
