South Atlantic Conference Announces 2018 Men's Lacrosse Preseason Poll & All-Conference Teams
Lenoir-Rhyne has been picked to finish first in the South Atlantic Conference preseason men’s lacrosse poll, which was announced by the league office today.
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Lenoir-Rhyne has been picked to finish first in the South Atlantic Conference preseason men's lacrosse poll, which was announced by the league office today. The League's head coaches gave the Bears six first place votes and a total of 60 points.
Wingate was voted No. 2 in the poll with 58 points and three first place votes, while Queens was voted No. 3 with 52 points. Tusculum came in fourth with 43 points, and Lincoln Memorial took the No. 5 spot with 35 points. Catawba was voted No. 6 with 30 points and Mars Hill was voted in at No. 7 with 23 points. Rounding out the poll was Coker at No. 8 with 15 points and Newberry at No. 9 with eight points.
The South Atlantic Conference also announced its preseason all-conference players. Eric Dickinson from Lenoir-Rhyne, Kyle Arcuri from Lincoln Memorial and Justin Swick from Queens were named the first team attackers.
Highlighting the midfield selections were first teamers Ben Corrigan of Lenoir-Rhyne, Nate Wade of Tusculum and Daniel Godwin of Wingate.
Collin Lett of Lenoir-Rhyne was named the preseason first team long pole midfielder, while teammate Jacob O'Connor was named a first team defender. Also earning preseason first team honors at defense were Chris Gazzio from Wingate and Ryan Benck from Lincoln Memorial.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Shane Gottberg and Ryan Crompton were the final two first team selections. Gottberg was named the team's specialist, while Crompton the goalie.
The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse schedule is set to get under on Saturday, Feb. 3. The 2018 South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled for April 24, 27 and 29 with quarterfinals at campus sites and the semifinals and finals at Wingate University.
