Anderson Sweeps South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the second week of the 2023 season. Anderson swept the awards, as Matthew Rodgers was named the offensive player of the week, Peyton Jefferson was named the defensive player of the week, and Cam Weeks was named the specialist of the week.

Rodgers, a freshman attacker from Carmel, IN, scored eight goals in Anderson's upset win over nationally ranked No. 14 Florida Southern while also scoring twice in the win over Embry-Riddle, finishing the week with 10 goals, an assist, three ground balls and a caused turnover. 

Jefferson, a senior defender from Allen, TX, caused three turnovers in Anderson's upset win over No. 14 Florida Southern on Friday and picked up four ground balls. He caused two turnovers in Sunday's win over Embry-Riddle while also scoring twice with a ground ball.

Weeks, a junior faceoff specialist from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., won 46 of his 64 faceoffs on the week with 24 ground balls. In the upset win over No. 14 Florida Southern, Weeks totaled 14 ground balls by winning 26 of the 35 faceoff attempts. He also scored twice in the victory.
