Anderson's Hawkins and Klosterman, Lincoln Memorial's Rogers Earn South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week Awards
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its Varsity Gems Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played in the eighth week of the 2023 season. Anderson's Garrett Hawkins was named the offensive player of the week while teammate Hunter Klosterman was named the specialist player of the week. Lincoln Memorial's Michael Rogers was named the defensive player of the week.
Hawkins, a junior midfielder from Clover, S.C., had three goals, two assists, and two ground balls in the 12-8 win over Catawba on Saturday. His second assist of the game gave him his 100th career point.
Rogers, a redshirt freshman defender from Cumming, Ga., forced four turnovers and picked up five ground balls in Lincoln Memorial's win over Coker on Saturday. He scored a goal on his only shot of the game to help the Railsplitters defeat the Cobras 9-5.
Klosterman, a freshman goalkeeper from Cumming, Ga., had 16 saves with a 66.7% save percentage in the win over Catawba on Saturday. He also assisted on a goal for the Trojans.
