The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during the second week of the 2024 season. Wingate's Sean Clark and Thomas Sullivan were named the Offensive and Specialist Players of the Week, and Lenoir-Rhyne's Victor Powell was named the Defensive Player of the Week.
Clark, a freshman from Victoria, British Columbia, poured in five goals to lead No. 10 Wingate to a big 13-6 victory over No. 6 Mercyhurst. Clark added two assists for a game-high seven points, doing his damage in just eight shots.
Powell, a senior from Chesapeake Beach, Md., totaled six ground balls and caused four turnovers in No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne's 2-0 week. All four of the caused turnovers came against No. 9 UIndy, while the Bears held the Greyhounds to just nine first half shots. The Lenoir-Rhyne defense, one of the top units in the nation, allowed just 11 goals in two games this week.
Sullivan, a graduate student from North Babylon, N.Y., piled up 17 saves to lead No. 10 Wingate to a big win over No. 6 Mercyhurst. Sullivan allowed just six goals against the Lakers and has registered 35 saves in his two games this year.
