The South Atlantic Conference Announces WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – The South Atlantic Conference announced its WePlayed Sports Men's Lacrosse Players of the Week for games played during the fifth week of the 2024 season. Wingate's Willie Grieco was named the Offensive Player of the Week while teammate Nick Arnold was named the Defensive Player of the Week, and Newberry's Connor Bates was named the Specialist Player of the Week.

Grieco, a graduate student from Lawrenceville, Ga., piled up 15 points to lead No. 7 Wingate to a pair of dominant wins last week. He had six goals and nine assists on the week, adding seven ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Arnold, a junior from Lewes, Del., had three caused turnovers in each of Wingate's two wins, as the No. 7 Bulldogs rolled to a pair of wins last week. He had six caused turnovers for the week, adding a pair of ground balls.

Bates, a senior from Boiling Springs, S.C., won 16 of 17 faceoffs against Tusculum on Saturday in Newberry's 27-5 win. Bates also grabbed 12 ground balls in the win.
