GAFFNEY, S.C. – Senior attack Chris Erneston IV (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) netted a season-high six goals while the No. 3 Limestone University men's lacrosse team held off a feisty No. 15 UIndy squad by the final of 16-13 during the opening round of the NCAA Division II Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
- Junior attack Zachary Terry (Tega Cay, S.C.) produced a hat trick for the Saints, scoring three times on eight shots
- Senior attack Jason Thomforhde (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) also tallied three scores for the Blue and Gold
- Junior attack Nate Senez (Efland, N.C.) facilitated the offense with four assists
- Junior attack Michael McGarry (Wilmington, Del.) tacked on one goal to go along with two assists
- Graduate defender Dylan Witt (Lawrenceville, Ga.) anchored the defense with a caused turnover and six groundballs
- Senior faceoff specialist Tim Ladner (Sandwich, Mass.) picked up 11 wins at the center "X" and six groundballs
- Graduate goalkeeper Shane O'Leary (Weymouth, Mass.) had a stellar game between the pipes, tallying 11 saves and six groundballs
- UIndy held a minimal 46-45 advantage on shots, including 24-22 shots on goal
- Limestone finished the game 20-of-23 on clear attempts

Limestone will now face an all-familiar foe in the quarterfinal round, traveling to Hickory, N.C. to take on the No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Sunday, May 12. Game time for that contest is set for 1 p.m.
