Carson-Newman’s Baldock, Wingate’s Szvetitz and Bostic Garner Men’s Soccer All-American Honors
MISSION, Kans. - Carson-Newman sophomore goalkeeper Tyler Baldock has been named an All-American second team selection by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Also, Wingate University senior defender Thomas Szvetitz (Valrico, Fla.) has been named a second team NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-America, and forward Benj Bostic (Wingate, N.C.) was named to the third team.
Baldock, the 2004 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, had a 13-2-1 record with 78 saves and a 0.94 goals against average.
Baldock, the 2004 South Atlantic Conference Player of the Year, had an outstanding season for the Eagles. He had a 13-2-1 record with 78 saves and a 0.94 goals against average. He was named to the All-Conference and All-Region teams this season.
Baldock was instrumental in leading the Eagles to a 17-2-1 record and their second consecutive SAC championship. The Eagles were ranked ninth in the final NSCAA poll and attained a number one national ranking for the first time in school history in early October of this year.
Seven schools had double representation: Wingate, Clayton State, Franklin Pierce, Incarnate Word, Lewis, Massachusetts-Lowell and Queens (N.C.). Both Szvetitz and Bostic earn NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-America honors for the first time.
Szvetitz and Bostic were both named to the NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-Appalachian Region team. Szvetitz was named All-Region three years in a row. Bostic was named All-Southeast Region at Mars Hill College following the 2002 season.
Szvetitz is a four-time All-South Atlantic Conference performer. As a sophomore in 2002, Szvetitz was named honorable mention NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II All-American. Thanks to his leadership, the Bulldogs won the 2002 Food Lion SAC tourney. Szvetitz earned All-Southeast Region first team honors in 2002 and 2003.
Wingate's freshman male "athlete of the year" award winner in 2001-02, Szvetitz picked up his scoring during his final campaign. The Jesuit High product had eight goals and four assists (20 points) during the 2004 season as Wingate compiled an 11-4-3 overall record.
Bostic's first year in the Wingate blue-and-gold was a productive one, as the Forest Hills High graduate had 20 goals and five assists (45 points) for the Bulldogs. A first team All-SAC pick, he led the league in scoring for most of the season. Bostic was named SAC "player of the week" twice during the 2004 campaign.

Bostic played two years at Mars Hill. He earned All-SAC and
All-Southeast Region honors in 2002. He won the SAC Scholar-Athlete
Award in the fall of 2002 and the SAC Presidents' Award in the
spring of 2003.
