Carson-Newman’s Frohock, Presbyterian’s Wright Named Men’s Soccer Academic All-American
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Carson-Newman senior defender Kyle Frohock (Franklin, Tenn.) and Presbyterian College senior defender Michael Wright (Surfside Beach, S.C.) both have been named to the 2004 ESPN Academic All-American College Division Men's Soccer Second Team. Members of the Academic All-American team are determined by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Frohock was a second-team All-American selection as he has a 3.86 grade point average in Management. He has been a member of the Carson-Newman Dean's List and SAC Commissioner's Honor Roll every semester for four years. Frohock is the recipient of the Kelley J. Tollett Scholarship at C-N and is a two-time member of the Academic All-Region team. He is a Presidential Scholar and enrolled in the C-N Honors Program. Frohock was named the Carson-Newman Student-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer the past two seasons and is a member of the Philosophy Committee.
On campus and in the community, Frohock led worship at Cross Point Baptist Church last summer and is active in the Carson-Newman Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He leads a Bible study on campus and is a mentor of local club team for kids.
Frohock helped lead the Carson-Newman Eagles to a 17-2-1 record and a number one national ranking during the season. The Eagles won their second consecutive South Atlantic Conference (SAC) title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year. He scored four goals and added three assists this season.
Wright was named to the 11-member second team selected by voting members of the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He joins former Blue Hose soccer All-SAC standout Doug Belknap who CoSIDA Academic All-American honors in 2002 and 2003 as the only players in program history to receive this award.
In the classroom, Wright carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in History and Political Science. He is a Rhodes Scholar nominee and received the 2004-05 Independent College Student of the Year Award from the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. He was one of six nationwide recipients of the Pi Kappa Phi National Scholar Award and has received the Presbyterian College Student Leader of the Year Award and the Presbyterian College Parent's Council Leadership Award. Earlier this fall he was named the 2004 South Atlantic Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year for men's soccer.
Wright is a three-year letterwinner for the Blue Hose, where he has been a key substitute and part-time starter on a Blue Hose defense which ranked second in the league in goal against average this season. The Blue Hose, under the direction of fifth-year head coach Bret Boulware, compiled an 9-9-0 overall record and finished in a sixth place tie in the SAC regular season with a 2-5-0 mark.
He is one of PC's top campus leaders, serving on numerous campus committees and organization boards, including the PC Unite Steering Committee, a diversity and understanding group; Academic Affairs; Student Life; Student Government Finance Committee; Religious Life, Conservation Committee; Constitution Committee; NCAA Strategic Planning Commission and PC's 135th Anniversary Committee. He also helps in the community by volunteering with Special Olympics, Habitat for Humanity and Big Brother.
Wright moves into elite company in Blue Hose history. Since the
athletic department moved to NCAA Division II in 1993, seven

team in 1994 and the first team in 1995 & 1996. Elizabeth Roe
