Carson-Newman’s Dario Carrasco named Men’s Soccer Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Carson-Newman College senior forward Dario Carrasco (Malaga, Spain) is this week's South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Carrasco scored four goals in two SAC wins over Mars Hill and Wingate, respectively. Carrasco scored twice in the Eagles' 6-0 victory over Mars Hill. In the Wingate contest, he scored the tying goal on a penalty kick to help rally the Eagles from a 3-1 deficit in a 4-3 Saturday win.
With the two victories, the Carson-Newman remains undefeated and clinches at least a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular season title. Carrasco leads the Eagles with 14 goals on the season.
Carson-Newman (11-0-2 overall, 4-0-1 SAC) has two regular season matches remaining. The Eagles visit North Greenville Thursday (4 p.m.) before returning home Saturday to face SAC foe Newberry (4 p.m.).
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
