Carson-Newman’s Omar Cooke Named Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Carson-Newman's Omar Cooke has been named the South Atlantic Conference's Player of the Week after leading the Eagles to three wins to open the 2007 season.
Cooke, a Vinton, Virginia native, scored five goals in three
wins over Montreat, Alderson-Broaddus, and Salem International.
Cooke scored twice against Montreat and Salem International for 10
points in three games, producing an astounding 71 percent shooting
percentage and an 86 percent shot on goal percentage. Cooke was
named the SAC's freshman of the year in 2006 and earned second team
All-SAC honors last season as well as preseason first team All-SAC
honors in 2007.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
