Wingate’s Chris Bohach Named Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Wingate senior defender Chris Bohach has earned Men's Soccer Player of the Week honors from the South Atlantic Conference.
Bohach, a native of Charleston, West Virginia, had a goal and an assist in the 20th-ranked Bulldogs' 3-0 win over fourth-ranked Lincoln Memorial Saturday night. He also helped anchor a defense that posted a shutout against Lincoln Memorial.
Bohach scored the game-winner in the first half, netting his fourth goal of the year (and fourth goal of his career) from outside the box for a 1-0 lead. With the Bulldogs playing a man down in the second half, Bohach fed senior teammate Ben Clark to give Wingate a three-goal lead.
Bohach also anchored a defense that held Lincoln Memorial
without a goal. The Railsplitters entered the week as the top
scoring offense in the nation (3.87 goals per game). LMU was held
to 13 shots and only three shots on goal.
Earlier in the week, the Bulldogs tied NCAA Division II Southeast Region number four St. Andrews Presbyterian College 2-2 Wednesday. In a match contested in a driving rainstorm, Bohach started and played the majority of the evening.
Bohach has four goals and a team-high seven assists this season. He was named to the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III men's soccer second team (college division), selected by CoSIDA.
The SAC Player of the Week is determined by a vote of the sports information directors of the league.
