Anderson’s Lasse Sohrweide Named Men’s Soccer Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, S.C. - Anderson University midfielder Lasse Sohrweide is this week's South Atlantic Conference men's soccer Player of the Week, league officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Sohrweide, a junior from Flensberg, Germany (Foerdegyu Flensberg), scored three goals and notched an assist for seven points in two contests on the week to help lead AU to a pair of conference wins, as the Trojans defeated Newberry 3-1, last Wednesday, then pushed past Lincoln Memorial by an identical count of 3-1 on Saturday.
The 6-foot midfielder gave the Trojans an early 1-0 lead at Newberry in the 10th minute, finding the back of the net with his ninth score of the season. He tallied an assist on the game-winning goal just a minute later versus the Wolves by getting the ball to a teammate off a corner kick.
He scored two goals, including his third game-winner of the
season in the homecoming win past LMU. With 27:01 to play,
Sohrweirde scored on a penalty kick to give AU a 1-0 lead, then
notched his second goal of the afternoon to give the Trojans a 2-1
advantage.
Sohrweide is tied for the team lead with 11 goals on the season and leads the Trojans with nine assists for a team-high 31 points. The junior standout ranks second in the league and 16th in the nation in total points and sixth nationally in total assists.
