Lincoln Memorial’s McKenna, Pereira Named To ESPN Academic All-District Team
HARROGATE, TN - Lincoln Memorial University men's soccer midfielder Aaron McKenna (Birmingham, England) and defender Lucas Pereira (Monte Siao, Brazil) have been named to the Academic All-American/CoSIDA District 4 First and Third Teams.
McKenna, a senior and four-year starter with the Railsplitters earned first team honors. In his sophomore season, McKenna was named Second Team All-South Atlantic Conference before earning First Team All-SAC honors as a junior. In addition, he was named an NSCAA All-Southeast Region honoree in both 2008 and 2009 while being named an NSCAA Scholar All-Region performer last year. This year he was a 2010 Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference First Team selection and has helped lead the Railsplitters (10-5-1, 6-3) to a fourth place conference regular season finish and a berth in the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament as the league's No. 4 seed.
Pereira is in his second season with the Railsplitters and received third team honors. Since joining the LMU men's soccer team in the fall of 2009, Pereira has been a major impact on LMU's men's soccer program. In his first season with the Railsplitters, Pereira was a First Team All-South Atlantic Conference selection while earning NSCAA All-Southeast Region Second Team as well. Before the beginning of the 2010 men's soccer season, he was a Preseason First Team All-SAC selection and has since helped the Railsplitters achive a conference-best eight shutouts, a mark that has been tied by only Mars Hill College this season.
