Three SAC Women’s Soccer, Three Men’s Soccer Programs Appear in Latest NCAA Regional Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS - The South Atlantic Conference has six soccer programs - three women's, three men's - ranked in the latest NCAA Southeast Region poll, as voted on by the NCAA Division II Soccer Committees.
The rankings are the official poll recognized during the NCAA Soccer Championship's selection process.
In the women's rankings, SAC-leading Lenoir-Rhyne moved up a spot to No. 2. The Bears are 14-1 overall, and have clinched at least a share of the conference's regular season title.
Wingate maintained its Southeast Region ranking at No. 6. The Bulldogs have an overall record of 11-3. At 7-1 in the SAC, Wingate can still earn a share of the regular season conference title with a victory and a Lenoir-Rhyne loss in both teams' final games this weekend.
Tusculum moved up in the rankings this week as well, coming in at No. 7 - one spot higher than last week. The Pioneers are 9-6-1 overall and 4-3 in the SAC.
In the men's Southeast Region poll, Anderson is ranked No. 2 for the second-straight week. The Trojans are one win away from finishing a perfect season in SAC play, and have clinched the league's regular season championship.
Mars Hill fell a slot to No. 4 in this week's rankings. The Lions are 9-4-1 overall with two games remaining.
Finally, Tusculum earned a spot in the Southeast Region rankings this week, checking in at No. 8. TC is currently third in the SAC with a 5-1-1 record.
The Division II Men's and Women's Soccer Committees will release updated regional rankings each week until championship selections on Nov. 7.
