LMU’s Pinto, Wingate’s Montgomery Named SAC Soccer Players of the Week
Lincoln Memorial junior Mario Pinto and Wingate sophomore Jade Montgomery, the top goal scorers in the SAC, have been selected as the conference’s soccer Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Lincoln Memorial junior Mario Pinto and Wingate sophomore Jade Montgomery, the top goal scorers in the SAC, have been selected as the conference's soccer Players of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
Pinto recorded a pair of hat tricks last week in LMU's league wins over Tusculum and Brevard. On Wednesday against Tusculum, Pinto scored three goals on five shots, then netted three goals on six shots on Saturday versus Brevard. He also added an assist in the win over BC.
Pinto's impressive week moved him into the top 10 of LMU's career scoring list. He leads the SAC with 15 goals and ranks third in Division II with a 1.25 goals per match average.

Montgomery totaled four goals in Wingate's two victories last week, including her second hat trick of the season in the Bulldogs' 3-1 Wednesday win at Catawba. She added another goal in WU's 4-1 victory at Anderson on Saturday.
Montgomery leads the SAC with 16 goals and ranks second in Division II in goals per match, fourth in points per match and is tied for fourth with five game-winning goals.
