Eight SAC Teams Ranked in Latest NCAA Soccer Regional Polls
A total of eight SAC soccer programs – four men’s and four women’s – have earned spots in this week’s NCAA Division II southeast region rankings, led by the top seed in the women’s poll, Lenoir-Rhyne.
INDIANAPOLIS – A total of eight SAC soccer programs – four men's and four women's – have earned spots in this week's NCAA Division II southeast region rankings, led by the top seed in the women's poll, Lenoir-Rhyne.
Lenoir-Rhyne maintained its position from last week as the No. 1 team in the women's southeast region poll. The Bears are 12-3-1 overall, and at 8-1-1 in the SAC have clinched at least a share of the conference title.
Just behind L-R in the women's poll is No. 2 Wingate. The Bulldogs – 11-2-3 overall and 7-2-1 in the SAC – jumped from No. 5 in last week's rankings.
Also earning spots in the women's poll were No. 7 Queens and No. 9 Catawba. Queens is 10-4-2 overall and 5-3-2 in SAC play, while Catawba is 9-6-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the conference.
Carson-Newman is the highest-ranked SAC men's program this week, coming in at No. 4. The Eagles 10-4 overall and 6-3 in the SAC – were not ranked in last week's regional poll.
C-N is joined in the men's poll by No. 5 Wingate, No. 7 Queens and No. 8 Anderson. Wingate was ranked seventh last week, Queens fourth and Anderson first. Queens currently leads the SAC standings, while Wingate is second, Carson-Newman is fourth and Anderson is seventh.
The NCAA Division II Soccer Men's and Women's Committees will release their final set of regional rankings next week.
