MATTHEWS, N.C. (TheSAC.com) - The No. 3 seed Wingate Bulldogs earned their third clean sheet of the 2019 SAC Men's Soccer Championship with a 1-0 win over the No. 5 seed Anderson Trojans on Sunday (Nov. 17) earning the 2019 tournament championship.
A goal by Soren Nygaard with an assist from Owen Marshall in the 36th minute of play proved to be all the offense the Bulldogs would need to take home the title.
The Bulldog locked down the Trojans, allowing three shots on goal over 90 minutes of play.
Wingate defender Devin Scully was named the tournament's most valuable player after anchoring a backline that did not surrender a single goal and allowed just 10 shots on goal over three matches.
