Four SAC Women's Soccer Teams and Six SAC Men's Soccer Teams Receive College Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 16, 2023) – United Soccer Coaches announced on Wednesday the College Team Academic Award winners, recognized for their exemplary performance in the classroom during the 2022-23 academic year. Four SAC women's teams and six SAC men's teams were honored.

Catawba posted the top GPA from the SAC women with 3.72. Lenoir-Rhyne followed with a 3.50, while Anderson recorded a 3.48. Emory & Henry concluded the SAC women with a 3.37.

For the men, Catawba recorded the highest SAC GPA with a 3.46. Newberry followed with a 3.44 and both Mars Hill and Wingate recorded a 3.40. Coker made the list with a 3.38 and Anderson followed with a 3.14.

A total of 801 soccer teams (307 men, 494 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2022-23 academic year. Of that total, 179 schools had both their men's and women's programs recognized.

United Soccer Coaches annually celebrates the academic achievements of teams whose student-athletes collectively demonstrate a commitment to excellence in their studies over the course of a full academic year.
