Program Records Continue to Fall at 2023 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Day two of the 2023 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships wrapped up Wednesday night, highlighted once again by new program records and All-American swims by multiple South Atlantic Conference athletes.
On the women's side, Wingate's Kate Agger swam a program-best 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:55.83, earning third place and All-American honors in the event. The previous school record of 9:56.01 was also set by Agger at the 2022 Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships.
Carson-Newman's Manon Compagner placed fifth in the women's 50 Freestyle with a time of 22.81 to earn All-American status. The team of Kyla Blakemore, Breanna Belcher, Lily Parr, and Kennadi King placed 10th in the women's 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:42.38.
Wingate's Kelsea Munro posted two honorable mention All-American swims, finishing third in the 50 Freestyle B final with a time of 23.08 and ninth as a member of the 200 Medley Relay. Marta Beesmans Barquero, Amanda Wehnhold, and Natalia Dwojak joined Munro as the other members of the All-American 200 Medley Relay.
For the men, Wingate set another new school record in the 200 Medley Relay. Jonatan Carlsson, Fedor Sokolov, Slava Ohnov and Marcel Snitko finished seventh in the event with a program-best time of 1:26.91. The previous record of 1:26.94 was set in 2022 at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships. Carson-Newman men also competed in the event, finishing 13th place.
Wingate's Miguel Marcos also earned All-American honors, finishing eighth in the men's 1000 Freestyle with a time of 9:07.94.
In addition to the 200 Medley Relay, Marcel Snitko grabbed points for the Bulldogs in the men's 200 Individual Medley, finishing 13th with a time of 1:48.25.
For the women, Wingate is currently in eighth place and Carson-Newman is in 16th place. On the men's side, Wingate is in sixth and Carson-Newman is in 14th.
