Blue Hose Tennis Teams Have Six Student-Athletes Named 2002-03 ITA Scholar-Athletes
CLINTON, S.C. - The Presbyterian College men's and women's tennis programs each had three student-athletes selected as ITA Scholar-Athletes announced today.
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
On the men's tennis team, junior Graeme Lauriston (Mission Beach, Australia), and freshmen Hector Rincon (London, England), and Kshitij Dwivedi (New Delhi, India) were selected to the team. All three players were named All-SAC this past spring with Rincon and Dwivedi earning first team honors. In addition, Rincon was named SAC Freshman of the Year and selected ITA Southeast Region Player to Watch.
The Blue Hose are coming off a 13-6 campaign where they won the 2003 SAC regular season championship for the second time in the last three years, advanced to the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament, and finished the season ranked #23 in the nation. PC is under the direction of head coach Paul Maxwell who earned SAC and ITA Southeast Region Coach of the Year honors.
On the women's tennis team, junior Anne Gilmore (Athens, Ga.), and sophomores Taylor Lynch (Myrtle Beach, S.C.), and Amanda Floyd (Athens, Tenn.) were selected to the team. In addition, Lynch was named to the second team All-SAC this past spring.
The Blue Hose are coming off a 16-5 campaign where they won a
share of the SAC regular season championship for the fourth
straight year, advanced to the NCAA Southeast Region Tournament,
and finished the season ranked #37 in the nation. PC is under the
direction of head coach Bobby McKee.
