Catawba’s Jose Velazquez Named Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Jose Velazquez of Catawba College has been named this season's first South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday.

Velazquez, a 6-1, 145-pound senior from Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, led the Catawba Indians to a pair of wins over North Greenville (8-1) and St. Andrews (9-0). He won both his singles and doubles matches at the No. 1 flight. Velazquez won in straight sets in both outings and teamed with Drew Ramsey for a pair of 8-6 doubles victories.

The SAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week is selected by a vote of the league's sports information directors.
