Wingate’s Flavio Rathsam Named Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week

ROCK HILL, SC -- Wingate University freshman Flavio Rathsam, of Sao Paulo, Brazil, has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending April 13.

Rathsam helped the Bulldogs to a pair of wins last week, playing No. 6 singles and No. 2 doubles. Wingate earned wins over North Greenville and Lincoln Memorial.

Rathsam earned a straight sets win in singles in a 7-2 victory over North Greenville, dropping just one game. He won in both singles and doubles in the 5-4 win over Lincoln Memorial that clinched at least a share of the league crown for the Bulldogs. After falling in a tiebreaker in doubles action, Rathsam did not drop a game in claiming his win in singles.

On the season, Rathsam has compiled a 9-1 record in singles, including a perfect 6-0 mark in league matches.

The South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week is voted on by the league's Sports Information Directors.
