2010 Men’s Tennis All-Conference, Award Winners Announced
ROCK HILL, SC - Lincoln Memorial University's Hannes Ganss and standout freshman Philipp Hoffmann, who helped guide the Railsplitters to the conference championship, headline the South Atlantic Conference All-Conference Men's Tennis Team, it was announced by the league office.
Ganss, a junior from Erlangen, Germany (Emmy-Noether Gymnasium), was named Player of the Year after going 16-2 overall at singles, with a 12-2 record at the No. 1 position. He was 7-1 in singles play against conference opponents. In doubles competition, Ganss was 16-1 overall with partner Bastian Guenther, with all 16 wins coming at No. 2.
Hoffmann, a freshman from Karlsruhe, Germany (Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, Karlsruhe), was named Freshman of the Year. He went 17-1 in singles play, including a 12-0 record at the No. 2 position. He was unbeaten in conference play. In doubles, he paired with Tom Goossens to go 18-0, with all but one match at No. 1 doubles.
Tusculum College senior Henrique Rodrigues was the recipient of the Scholar-Athlete Award.
Rodrigues is a senior accounting major with a 3.88 GPA. He received the 2008 Duffield Academic Award for the student-athlete with the highest GPA, and was named the Tusculum Academic Freshman of the Year in 2007. He is a member of Alpha Chi honor society and has been named to five different honor rolls and has received three academic scholarships. He has been Tusculum's No. 1 singles player for the past two years and is a three-time All-Conference selection and three-time ITA Scholar Athlete. He went 3-10 at No. 1 singles this season and 4-1 at No. 2 singles. He has 88 career wins in singles and doubles and helped lead Tusculum to the conference and tournament championships in 2008. Rodrigues has volunteered in assisting homeless in the community and soup kitchens in Greeneville and Johnson City, Tennessee. He also worked with his tennis teammates in assisting a family at Thanksgiving.

Lincoln Memorial head coach Benny Collins, who guided the Railsplitters to a 17-1 overall record and the conference championship with an 8-0 record.
Wingate University led the way with four All-Conference selections, while LMU and Tusculum College had three All-Conference members each.
The All-Conference team is selected by the league's head coaches.
The awards will be presented Friday after the women's semifinals matches of the 2010 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The tournament is being played at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C.
