Wingate’s Braeden Patchell Named Men’s Tennis Player Of The Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Wingate University's Braeden Patchell has been named the South Atlantic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for the week ending March 14, announced conference officials Tuesday.
Patchell, a senior from Oakville, Ontario (Blakelock), picked up a pair of wins Saturday in Wingate's huge conference win at defending SAC champion Lincoln Memorial, handing the Railsplitters their first league loss since 2009. Patchell won 7-5, 6-3 in number four singles over LMU's Michael Koenen. He teamed with Matt Lichtenstein for an 8-5 win in number two doubles over Alexey Minevskiy and Marcelo Alvim, as the 38th-ranked Bulldogs improved to 8-3 overall and 2-0 in the SAC.
In Wingate's 7-2 victory over Kuztown of Pennsylvania in Hilton
Head, S.C., on Wednesday, Patchell rallied to take a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0
(10-2) victory over Rushi Amin. He and Lichtenstein defeated
Kuztown's Andrew Zhu and Tim Roenning, 8-2.
