Anderson Pair Named SAC Tennis Players of the Week
Anderson freshman Inaki Iriberry and junior Avery Owens have been picked as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after leading to Trojan men and women to a combined 6-2 record, the league office announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Anderson freshman Inaki Iriberry and junior Avery Owens have been picked as the SAC Tennis Players of the Week after leading to Trojan men and women to a combined 6-2 record, the league office announced on Monday.
Iriberry went a perfect 4-0 at No. 6 singles as the AU men went 3-1 overall, which included SAC victories over Newberry, Mars Hill and Tusculum.
Iriberry picked up wins against Newberry's David Sons, Tusculum's Daniel Gianopulos, Mars Hill's Joel Sturgis and Limestone's Daniel Lopez. All four victories came in straight sets.
He is now 5-1 on the season in singles matches.

Owens, meanwhile, went a perfect 8-0 in singles and doubles action as the Anderson women went 3-1. She played three singles matches in the No. 2 position, earning wins over Newberry's Romina Adum, Limestone's Segolene Ollivier and Mars Hill's Marian Pinate. The Clinton, S.C. native also defeated Tusculum's Kate Hutchinson in the No. 1 singles match.
In doubles play, Owens picked up wins in the No. 1 position with teammate Karen Ching against Mars Hill, Tusculum and Limestone, and in the No. 3 spot with partner Camie Beaulier-Brune against Newberry.
Owens is 6-1 in singles matches and 7-1 in doubles play so far this season.
