Wingate’s Forbes, Tusculum’s Hutchinson Named SAC Tennis Players of the Week
Wingate junior Ryan Forbes and Tusculum sophomore Kate Hutchinson have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Wingate junior Ryan Forbes and Tusculum sophomore Kate Hutchinson have been named the SAC Tennis Players of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Forbes went a combined 6-0 in singles and doubles play last week as the Wingate men improved to 8-1 overall with victories over Erskine, Newberry and Limestone.
Forbes played N. 5 singles in each of the three matches, picking up wins over Erskine's Robert Clarke, Newberry's David Sons and Limestone's Benji Lascari Diaz.
His doubles victories – which came in the No. 2 position alongside teammate Kennedy Cancelado – came against Erskine's Dean Harris and Alan Pearce, Newberry's Cal Loveridge and Carlos Nicolopulos, and Limestone's Antoine leDore and Daniel Lopez.
Forbes is now 7-1 overall in singles play and a combined 8-2 in doubles action.

Hutchinson, meanwhile, was key in leading Tusculum to a 7-2 victory over Milligan on Wednesday – the Buffaloes' first loss of the season. TC is now 5-1 overall.
Hutchinson won a three-set decision in the No. 1 singles match against Grace Sarver, 6-4, 4-6, 12-10, then teamed with partner Adrienne Kaye in the No. 2 doubles match to beat Rachel Hodas and Halie Winfrey, 8-5.
On the season, Hutchinson is 4-2 in singles matches and 4-1 in doubles.
