Wingate's Walcher Named South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Tennis Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. (TheSAC.com) – Wingate's Florian Walcher has been named the South Atlantic Conference Varsity Gems Men's Tennis Player of the Week for matches played during week two of the 2023 season, the Conference announced today.

Walcher, a sophomore from Austria, went undefeated last week at No. 1 singles and doubles with wins over Gardner-Webb and Davidson. Walcher and doubles partner Luka Brown picked up a 6-3 win over Gardner-Webb and a 6-4 win over Davidson. He then earned two hard-fought wins at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1, 2-6, 7-6 versus Gardner-Webb, and 7-5, 6-7, 6-3 against Davidson.
